Idea One
My first idea is to have my radio drama based on possibly the world's most famous love story and Shakespeare's most famous play, Romeo and Juliet. This play was modernised in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film. 'Romeo + Juliet' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117509/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S6IJWilpx4 In this film swords were changed to guns and horses changed to cars. However I could update the famous play further and portray it in a modern English society, and instead of having two rival high class families, I could have two rival London gangs. This would be a genre of romance and drama.
Idea Two
My second idea would be a drama about adrenaline junkies and people who take part in extreme sports, such as skydiving, bungee-jumping and cliff jumping. The play could feature an insight into an adrenaline junkie’s life, why they do these stunts and how you can get hooked. This play would be a drama. A film that has could help me write my radio drama could be '127 Hours' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1542344/ which tells the true story of a mountain climber who becomes trapped under a boulder whilst canyoneering.
Idea Three
A film that I find very interesting is 'Blood Diamond' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450259/ It is a polictical film that deals with blood/conflict diamonds which are diamonds mined in African war zones and sold to finance conflicts, and thereby profit warlords and diamond companies across the world, or a warlord's activity. I could make a radio play about blood diamonds which could educate the audience about them and what they can do to help stop the transistion of conflict diamonds. This play would be a drama also.
Idea Four
Another idea that I have is to make a crime/horror play, initially I never thought horror could work on the radio, but after listening to the horror play ‘Fear on Four’,http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b009smwk, I can see that it does and is effective at scaring the listener and captivating their imagination. I could create my own crime/horror film which could be about a murderer and a detective trying to capture them. This genre would be crime/horror.
Idea Five
My last idea would be a play that is similar to the film ‘The Hangover’ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1119646/, the play could begin with a happily married couple talking about their life, and then they reveal why their wedding almost never happened, the play would then unravel the events that occurred that day. This genre would be a romantic comedy.
